CORAL HOSPITALITY APPOINTS MICHELE PALMER AS TRAVEL INDUSTRY SALES MANAGER OF THE SANDPEARL RESORT
The new Clearwater Beach resort is slated to open in June 2007
CLEARWATER BEACH, FL (November 14, 2006) –Coral Hospitality has appointed Michele Palmer as Travel Industry Sales Manager of the Sandpearl Resort, adding to the growing staff of the first new beachfront resort on Clearwater Beach in over 25 years. The 253-room, eight-story luxury hotel is being constructed on 700 feet of Gulf of Mexico waterfront and is slated to open in June 2007.
Palmer, who has more than 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, most recently served as revenue manager and tour & travel sales manager for the Marriott Suites Clearwater Beach on Sand Key. While in that position, she was instrumental in increasing revenue per available room and establishing the hotel as a rate leader in the marketplace.
Prior to that position, Palmer served as director of revenue management and tour & travel sales manager at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort and Ramada Inn Gulfview, where she significantly increased bookings from tour operators during the post-9/11 industry recession.
As travel industry sales manager for the Sandpearl Resort, Palmer will be responsible for managing the hotel’s individual leisure market, including the retail travel agent market and the wholesale market, both domestically and internationally. In the local corporate market, she will be responsible for identifying and soliciting the corporate travel departments to house individual business travel.
Palmer was honored with a place in the Winegardner & Hammons Platinum Club in 2005 for finishing in the Top 5 in revenue management while at the Marriott Suites Clearwater Beach. She also previously won manager of the quarter three times during her tenure as a revenue manager. Palmer graduated from Genesee Community College in Batavia, NY, with degrees in travel and tourism, and hospitality management.
Palmer and the current Sandpearl Resort team are working from the pre-opening office located at 600 Cleveland Street in Clearwater until the resort opens in June 2007.
